Hey all!
I'm working on an illustrated story that has Indian culture related themes in it. I use the exotix looks such as clothes and jewelry from India in my art.

Had an experience as a teenager which made me question my beliefs and I discovered Eastern philosophy. Mainly Buddhism at first but later in life have been learning more about Hinduism. Ive been bitten by the colouring in bug and of course my artist daughter got me the book The Shakti Coloring Book by Ekabhumi Charles Ellik and just love the pictures as well the generous information relating to the different Goddesses as well as the their representative Yantras. So I will be submitting picures from that book as well as Mandalas. Hopefully will attempt to draw and color my own pictures of the Veda. Om Namaha Shivaya.

Namaste.

Hello everyone,i'm Rahula (it derives from Vajrayana Buddhism) and i come from Italy but i am Romanian because i was adopted when i was 3 years old. I study Chemistry at University but my real passion is Medicine that i'm going to study probably in Germany because i love german culture and language. India? India is may favourite asian country because it is a complex and fascinating culture with its virtues and weakness like all countries,i love India also because i think many cultural aspect come from India itself. I come across Indian culture mainly with reading of sacred text like Veda,Yoga Sutra (please read Patanjali's Yoga Sutra before practising Yoga!),Tantrasara and writings of Great Masters like Vivekananda. I strongly recommend Vivekananda's books because he introduced the Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to Western world. I love Indian music too^^ i like to draw hindu devata but my favourite are Shiva and Chinnamasta^^ i like this Group.

My name is Bhurloka12. My biggest influence is Hong Kong artists such as Andy Seto - basically kung-fu comics. The thing that introduced me to Hindu mythology is gaming, mainly the Japanese Shin Megami Tensei series.

I have drawn many deities and monsters from Hinduism, but much of the influence is on Shin Megami Tensei style. I'm flattered you have picked this drawing of Ganesha...

I have done more like this in my Alternate Demon Sketch or Summon Card folders. Because I don't want to offend people, I will not send deviations to the group unless there's a go-ahead. The-Veda group will call the shots for what they want from my gallery.

Hi everyone! I'm Paula and I got interested in Indian culture through various movies and stories from my childhood, namely the film A Little Princess. My father was stationed in India for a time and though I didn't get to follow him there, he brought back stories and experiences that got me even more interested. In my World Religions course in college, I was most interested in Hinduism and Buddhism and all their stories, and pursued this to an Indian Philosophy course. I also enjoyed the novel Lord of Light by Roger Zelazny, and my favorite novel series is Amitav Ghosh's Ibis trilogy, which right now consists of Sea of Poppies and River of Smoke. I suppose it's just a general interest, and it's incredible to look at such ancient stories and how they've survived.
One of my favorite artists is Sanjay Patel, who had been a Pixar animator and now writes and illustrates books. I recently bought his Ramayana: A Divine Loophole, and am looking forward to its arrival. His style is beautiful: grainedit.com/wp-content/uploa…

Hi mina-san! (ok, I don't speak Japanese at all, but I'm learning. Sigh, this is one of the only words I really know)

As you can tell, I tend to ramble. I'm saillytheshippy, but I WILL change it sometime this year - really, what was I thinking?

Anyway, I came across Indian culture when my cousins got me hooked on Bollywood, and then I fell in love with the music, dress, food...I've seen Eat, Pray, Love at least 5 times already. My most favorite though is reading up on myths and legends (helps that the local museum has a whole bunch of artifacts and stories XD )

Well that's me. Nice to meet you all!

HiYo Names Bree-Zee and my actual name doesn't even start with an actual B. That name is a nickname of mine. This is just a old account.

I got into Indian Culture Art through a artist I greatly admire and it went further when I started to research music and dance. And it is because of that I recently started taking up Belly Dance because it is the closest thing to Indian Culture in my area.
Anyway I don't usually draw much culture art but with my dancing. I think I will be posting a few somethings in the future.

Hello! Cheers for the invite! I am VaporTrails2. I came across Indian culture, specifically Hare Krishna, a year ago when I looked up the meaning and translation to Kula Shaker's songs "Tattva" and "Govinda", among others, as well as found out that the lead singer, Crispian, was involved in Hare Krsna. Many of my beliefs were already integrated into the Hindu culture, such as reincarnation and something cosmic-related, so I got interested in it more, and it ended up opening my eyes to more things. For example, Brahman; a concept that I fully believe and know to be true. At that time that I discovered Hare Krsna, I was also in a horrid depression, so starting morning meditation/chanting mantra and looking to Krishna for guidance and such really got me out of my head. I have read the Gita, the Vedas, and the Ramayana as well. My favourite gods are Jagannatha and Rama. In fact, I have an enamel pin of Jagannatha on my coat to make people smile whenever I go out. :)

Ummm. Hi!
I'm TierzaRyumina. I got into the Hindu culture not too long ago, at the start of my freshman year in college. I found it a beautiful way of thinking and looking at the world and felt... freer and whole inside, more so then when I was being Catholic. I find it to be much deeper in meaning to be spiritually. In fact, I changed my minor to philosophy and religion because I love Hinduism and Buddhism so much. Plus, I find everything about Indian culture to be pretty for the most part. HENNA... and SARIS... JUST... YES PLEASE!
The mythology is probably my favorite part. While the tales of all the gods and goddesses are beautiful and wonderful to read (I read a lovely retelling of the Ramayana in a novel form... YES... so wonderful...), the near and dear god to my heart is Lord Indra. Not sure entirely why, but he is ^^.
Besides that... I ride horses and have my own, bellydance, write, read...

I'm not Hindu nor am I Indian, but I love learning about world cultures.
I can't remember when exactly I got interested in other cultures, but I guess that started when I was in elementary school. my hometown is really diverse, so I wanted to know more about the other cultures of my friends.
My favorite type of Indian art is the henna-type (the ink stuff that people put on their skin)

Hello, I am KellySchot. I got into Indian culture through my study of various mythologies. I love studying ancient cultures and the past in general. Especially the mythology of a culture. It's so fascinating to see how different yet alike cultures are through their stories and beliefs. I started learning about Indian mythology when I came upon a Goddess tarot deck at my local bookstore and bought it. There were various goddesses of different cultures, including Hindu goddesses such as Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Kali. Naturally my interest was piqued and I started researching and was fascinated by it. Due to my love of learning of different cultures, I am hoping to become an anthropologist. I also write stories having to do with mythology and ancient history. And it's through those that I learn even more about different cultures and people! :D
